Welcome!

I am Bosco.
Thanks for coming to my blog!
In this blog I will be exploring electrical projects that I like to make.  I will post video and pictures and tell you a little bit about the project.  I have been attending Burlington County College for the past 2 years and have recently graduated with highest honors from there with an Associate of Science in Engineering.  I am currently finishing up a few more courses so that I will also earn an Associate of Science in Mathematics by the end of summer.  I will be attending Drexel University in the fall, seeking a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

I am new to electronics.  I enjoy it and like to figure things out and make things work.  Even though you can buy all kinds of electronic things for mere pennies nowadays, it is still fun to make them yourself, hack into things and make things that you can't find already manufactured.  It is also fun to scour thru thrift stores looking for electronic gadgets that you can rip apart and figure out how they work.  I like to up-cycle, recycle and reuse all the parts I find.

One of my current projects wasa pair of Nike Air Force One Light Shoes that I wore to graduation.  It is controlled by an Arduino and I wrote some code that does the 7 different effects.  By pushing a button, you can switch between the different effects.  There are only two outputs (I connected every other light to each other in parallel).  Here is a video of it:

I also decorated the top of my mortar board in electroluminescent wire for graduation with a "Hi Mom!"  The battery pack was hidden in the cap.  It also has a blink mode so it flashes on and off like a neon sign.  Both of these things were a big hit at the graduation.

Initially I thought that I wouldn't be allowed to attend graduation if I showed up with all the electric gear.  Underneath my gown, it certainly looked as though I was the Unabomber and was going to blow up the entire graduating class (ala the scene in the movie "Heathers").  But everyone loved it!  Even the President, as he was handing me my degree, was looking down at my shoes, instead of into the camera for my grad picture.
My next project: I am doing a couple of instructables for the LED contest, a "Wheel of Fortune" and a pressure-sensitive brake light.  Will post more in the coming days. CYA!
